Hi,

just an update. I had the crank sensor changed for a new one, changed brake light switch too and the issue is still there.

I noticed that previously when it switched off when I cranked the engine the rpm needle did move but again it took a while to start up. I had to keep pumping the accelerator pedal.

I've noticed that the car cuts off when I'm driving at speed and i switch gears to neutral, the revs just drop. I was going downhill and thought I'd try it, was probably on about 3k rpm in 4th gear downhill, switched to neautral and the revs dropped and it cut off. The battery light came on, I put it back in 4th (while still going downhill) clutched out and started up again so it looks like it does bump start back straight away but it's only if I stop and try to start it normally it takes a while to start up again.

Again sorry for troubling you all  this is getting annoying now.

Where should i start looking now? ruled out the crank sensor.

Thanks

Another thing I noticed is that after the car cuts out, as previously mentioned it takes a while to crank. after 1 - 2 attempts turning it over the starter seems to be doing the job but nothing. On the 3rd or 4th attempt it seems the starter is spinning faster then before, and after about the 5th or 6th attempt it seems o get even faster and it eventually starts.

could the starter be an issue? I previously didnt consider this because I thought it wouldn't cause the car to cut out while driving.

Tandem pump and injector loom.

Also log fuel requests on vcds if you can then replicate the issue.

Hey,

Sorry for the late post. the issue wasn't previously resolved but it stopped doing it so frequently and I really just kept the revs up while driving.

Yesterday it got worse all of sudden so I took it down to an independent VW specialist and they found that the wiring going to the Fuel Pump Controller/Sensor was damaged, I believe it's some copper wire so they repaired it today and it seems to be driving better but only time will tell. I'll keep this updated and if let you know if the issues resolved.

Thanks for the advise guys, If it's not resolved then I'll move onto the tandem pump and injector, thanks xjay1337
I hope this helps someone as I've had a nightmare with this issue!
