Mk5 Wing Backs in Mk6 Golf
« on: April 07, 2016, 05:08:09 pm »
I am soon getting my Mk5 R32 wing back seats back from the trimmers and will be fitting them back into my 2012 (Mk6) Golf R. My stock seats currently have all the features (electric lumbar adjust, heated seats, seat occupancy and air bags), where as my wing backs only have heated seats and occupancy sensors.

My problem is the wiring for the heated seat feature and seat occupancy sensor quite different on the wing backs compared to the stock Mk6 Golf seats. Air bags I've taken care of with fused resistor fittings but I wonder does anyone know how I can get the wiring sorted to run these seats with all their (two) features?

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

Why not contact Eddie-NL for a price he's done plenty of seat mods and rebuilds and you'll have mod rather than a bodge?

What year R32 were the seats taken from? Both early and late mk5s use same black plug for heated seat/lumbar power but pin assignments differ so some repinning is required. FYI , late mk5 and mk6 have same pin assignments.

See here for the pin assignments:

Not sure which year they're from, but I've noticed that my Mk6 seats wiring under the driver's side is totally different. That, or the wiring loom that connects to the car was pinched before I got them!

I may contact one of the retro fitters for a price, good thinking. Just trying to build my own knowledge first though as prefer to tackle things myself.

I was thinking of plug to plug mod harness if Ed can do it, so when you want to sell them it's for all the MKV & MKVI. Vehicles and you've got no other hassle just a hardware purchase?

By the sound of it, they are from earlier mk5.

Probably be easier and cheaper to repin vs getting plug and play adapters made. See the diagrams in the link for yourself mate. Just as easy to repin back once you are done with the car.

With my RS4 wingbacks where it is completely different plugs, wires and all, I will need to fabricate a set of adapters.

That certainly would be brilliant, however I'll likely sell the seats with the car if I move on from this project. Purely because a Golf R with the wing backs is much easier to sell as they're rather uncommon!

I'll read that article fully later on, looks like it'll work for my needs! Legend, as allways @omeydz  :happy2:

That got scrapped as getting the whole car's wiring loom replaced wasn't going to happen. I now have a Mk2 Golf GTI 16V that I'm restoring.
