Longer session cookie?

Could we be allowed to log in for longer than 1 day? Every time I visit on my desktop 24 hours have passed and I have to log in again. I don't want it to remember my username and password, just keep me logged in.

Just found the "remember me" box on the main login page. Why you would not have that on the header i have no idea.
