ok after taking onboard the advice iv been looking at a few bits to replace the forge, iv come across an alloy s3 intercooler but will this be better or worse than the mk6 R intercooler as they are similar in prices?
Iv seen a RAMAIR induction kit brand new for under £200 so may get hold of one of them and also looking into a downpipe. Catback will be something i will be doing at the end.
If i get my car mapped with just a downpipe and intercooler and im not happy with the performance so decided to add bits later will it require a full map again?
Don't forget that upgrading the fuel pump will get the best out of your downpipe and intake. It's arguably the second most worthwhile mod after the downpipe.
As for the map, usually once you pay for the initial remap any subsequent map tweaks cost much less. R-Tech for example charge £290 for your first map and then to make alterations when you upgrade your hardware they charge you 2 hours of rolling road time. This was, for a while £90, but I was informed by Ben when I phoned R-Tech yesterday that it is now £150. Bit steep if you ask me, but that's what he told me.
With Revo maps you can alter 3 different parameters yourself with an optional SPS (little controller you plug into the OBD port), boost, fuel and timing. I'm not on Revo so I'm not sure whether a Stage 1 map can be altered all the way up to Stage 2+ solely using the SPS, or whether you'd need a fresh map once you're up to 2/2+ levels of hardware. Revo aren't fully custom, but the SPS at least allows the user more control over some basic settings.
You're on the right track with the hardware.
