Oil warning light yellow
« on: April 11, 2016, 07:42:28 pm »
Well well well my yellow oil warning light today came on so I topped it up and set off again but oil light stayed on
Hmmm have I put enough in, so topped up a bit more and set off again.
Light still on so I am now panicking thinking it's either a faulty sensor or low oil pressure :surprised:
Hot foots it off to find the nearest Vw center at a seriously slow speed and manage to persuade them to fit her in for a quick vag com scan.
An hr later they come to me and say they have only the code they found was for the bonnet catch which is faulty..................WTF  :rolleye: :rolleye:

Any one else had this happen?

Bonnet catch switch is the cause of the oil light. Fix that and it'll go away

Start doing a bit research in this area if your wipers work cause that proves the bonnet switch is ok

There are other how to's on this but that's where I would be looking.

It resets the light when you open the bonnet. If the bonnet isn't registering as opening or closing then it won't go out.

As Dan says, sorting that issue will most likely resolve it.

Funny on the way home after the vag scan the exhaust light has come on and stayed on!
I suspect my replacement wings might be the cause as no lights came on until it had the wings done ......dealer did think it was very coincidental that all was ok until it has come back from the body shop on sat morning...as well as telling me the yellow warning light would stay off till I opened the bonnet again, good job I know oil level is ok  :booty:

What! Do you know the split between parts and labour? That sounds an awful lot.

Pikey method would be to simply join the wires together  :signLOL:
