vredestein ultrac sessanta, end of discussion. they are cheaper and As good as the big name brands so why pick anything else?

I'm always sceptical when people say "As good as X, but cheaper".   What evidence do you have to back that up?   Not saying Vredestein are bad tyres, but I seriously doubt they are in the same league as Michelin's, Conti's or Pirelli's best.  Mich, Conti & Pirelli are OEM fitment on a lot of top end cars.  Never seen a Vredestein specified as factory fit on a 911 GT3 for example.

If you like them, fair enough, tyres are subjective.  I just don't get along with blanket statements that cheap things are as good or better than expensive things without some kind of data to back it up, but that's just me

are super sports more of a dry weather tyre? will they outlast the Ps4?

They're rated even higher as a sports tyres so they won't be as good in the wet and won't last as much. It's like comparing the Michelin Sports Pilot Cup 2 and MPSS.

They're very good in the wet. Just a bit weak at colder temps. PS4 do sound a good all-rounder though.

On balance most summer tyres are a compromise in very low temps. You need to be clear about what you want from your tyre in what weather. The tyre that's first class in all conditions doesn't exist yet. MPSS were developed as a road tyre that can handle the odd track day. There's not many road tyres that can do that. They also respond well to getting proper heat into them, which again, not too many road tyres like that too much. Big brakes can load up a tyre and get it to generate heat, under these conditions you need a tread block that won't turn to jelly.

It's an unfair comparison, but I have been on track with Goodyear F1's Assy2 and had lumps come off them. They lacked some precision of steering on the road due to softer side walls but they were a comfortable, quiet tyre with good grip under most conditions.

If you're never going to track your car and you don't have a BBK you'd be happy with something else, PS4 for example. Although any premium tyre most likely wouldn't disappoint, they won't be worlds apart from each other but may be biased slightly differently from one another.

Incidentally, my MPSS have been fine in all weathers for me. I moderate my driving style in poor conditions but in determining how good these are in the wet I have leant on them fairly hard on clear roads and they've not disappointed.

Pretty good, but compare the wet and dry grip graphs for the Pilot SuperSport and Pilot Sport 4.   Not as many miles covered, but the latter is fresh to market and those numbers will be consistent the more people use it because it's a farkun excellent tyre.

It's more than just about reviews and graphs though, it's about steering feel too and I can already tell from that strange wavey tread pattern I'm not going to like the way they feel on the road, but each to our own.

Have today had 4 x Michelin PS4's fitted at ATS - yes really, bear with me!
All in fitted, disposal and all that b0llocks £432, BUT with Michelin fuel gift card prom (until 30 April), will get £50 cash back.
So £382 sounds pretty good to me...especially living out here in the sticks, and 150miles + from my nearest Costco!
No issues with the fitting, by appointment, all went well.

However, having signed up for both the "free" tracking check and battery check, I was not surprised to be told that both "needed doing"...guess if you are on a forum like this then you would be probably be comfortable ignoring that "tech advice", as I was. When I pointed out that the tyres coming off were all evenly worn, the answer was that the mis-alignment "must just have happened"...and the battery - how ever did I get thru winter? "Luck"!
Why does it seem so much of the motor trade can't help themselves but try it on at every available opportunity?

25 miles in..the PS4's seem quieter than the 2mm Falkens that came off, otherwise way too early to comment.
No cup sports etc for me, more often wet than dry down here in Cornwall - and then there is the cowsh1t

so you can tell how good a tyre is merely by looking at the tread pattern?

if that's not subjective with zero data to back it up I'm not sure what is.

and Nasir, I believe BMW had verdiestein's fitted from the factory at one time, although I will have to check.

I'm not knocking the vred ultrac sessanta i had 2 sets of them on my astra gsi turbo which had generally shocking understeer to say the least. i did like them but ill be sticking with PS4 for quite a while i think.

each to there own anyway there will never be a correct answer on these topics.

OK Dr pedantic,   

surely all reviews are subjective? the original poster wasn't asking for Data he was asking for tyre suggestions all of which are opinions, not fact which I provided and I also provided (albeit anecdotal) evidence - not data, to back up my personal and many others real world experience of these great quality tyres that are cheaper than the big name brands.

Data refers to facts and statistics. Subjective statements are neither of those. And yes, tyre reviews can be objective by actually assessing the tyre's characteristics. But I will agree that tyre preference is subjective by definition.

Let's leave it at that.

Its a preloaded master card, so appears can be used for more than just fuel?
This promo now appears more widespread than it was when first looked?

Meanwhile , delighted with the 4 PS 4's. As would be expected a big step up, all round, from the Falkens fitted before.
Even the Mrs remarked that car seemed quieter on the road.
Would buy again.

nothing to worry about mate its Michelin themselves that foot the bill and its a good promo. we offered it at our place when we used to buy direct from Michelin. sometimes took up to 6 weeks for customer to receive it though

its not data these 219 people could be comparing the vredesteins to cheap budget tyres you never know.
again not taking anything away from the vredestein theyre a decent tyre just saying when looking at tyres don't look on the internet ask someone who knows what theyre on about

Had a couple of pairs of uniroyal rainsport 3's and I'm slightly surprised they haven't been mentioned yet. A good tyre and very reasonably priced. Perhaps a little soft in the warmer weather (not as bad as the rainsport 2) but in the crappy weather you'd have to go with an all out winter tyre to beat them.
