GTi Standard Radio/Stereo version
« on: May 03, 2016, 06:39:35 am »
I'm looking at buying a 18 month old GTi and the garage has sent me a video of the car to look at.  In the video I can see the stereo is not the same as the one in the current mk7 brochures.

The video shows the system does not have sat nav.  It looks like this...

The current brochure shows these two systems and implies that the right hand one is the one included with the GTi.

So, does the car I'm looking have something wrong or has VW changed the specification of the included stereo in the last 18 months?

Hi my friend got a new gti recently. When he originally ordered it last year it came with the stereo in the video. After waiting months for the build the car arrived but a mix up sent him a 5 door not 3 so back it went. After waiting a couple of months for the correct car to be built he received it with the new stereo in the brochure. I believe VW changed the option to include the Nav stereo at the start of the year as a standard feature so this is prob why it's different. Hope that helps in some way.

Thanks, that makes sense and I had assumed they must she upgraded the stereo. I was trying to find a 2014 brochure to compare but wasn't able to find one.

Thanks for the info.

I think you'll find VW did change the spec, be aware you cannot retro fit the sat nav to an older unit & you can't fit a unit from a newer car - Its not interchangeable like the RNS510 - If sat nav is important, keep looking for the right car
