Devils own w/m problem...
« on: April 16, 2016, 09:48:32 pm »
Today I wited in my do w/m controller and when I switched it on I saw smoke right away...
I have connected everything as described;
Black - ground (through a on/off switch)
Blue - pump minus
Yellow - w/m level sensor
Pink - ignition
Orange - battery 12V +
Green - map sensor

When I was switching it on i had forgot the plug in the map sensor connector but it shouldent be like this anyway?! The key wasen't even in the ignition!!
Pump is working whwn grounding the black wire and has a 10A fuse to battery.
Ignition is taken behind fusebox side of dashboard.
Green to lilac/green pin 14 on the connector front of the battery near the coolant hose.

So my controller is now cooked... :sad1:
What have i done wrong?
My controller is the 2.5 bar version...

Please help!!

10A is correct

Which install instructions have you followed? Do you have a DV100 or DVC30?

Which controller?

I daresay it sounds like you've followed the wrong set of installation instructions.

Just checking!

Only thing I can think of is you've picked the wrong wire for the map sensor and given it a 12v feed instead of the 0-5V it should see. Other than that - there's nothing that can go wrong with it really. It shouldn't even power up without a 12v ignition live

You can always sack of the controller and get a basic 6-30psi mechanical switch which is what I've run (reliably) for the last 18 months

I have to tripple check the wiring and measure everything up again!
Green is to the map sensor...

Do you have a link to that controller?

Green is for the map sensor, but did you wire it to the correct signal wire on the car?

Not a controller as such, its a basic on/off switch for the pump, activates at a certain PSI (adjustable), you need to run it using a relay (follow the stage 1 instructions) http://www.methanol-injection.co.uk/PDFs/stage%201.pdf

Where did those instructions come from? Did you not check it with a multimeter?

If you have 100% wired it up correctly then the controller must be faulty - nothing else it could be

Hi again!

I have now tripple checked every wire and it all looks good. I measured on tje green wire while driving up to near 5V.... I must be the controller itself that are faulty... Is it worth 200$ for a new one or just order the pressure switch?

Just to share some info. It is the mosfet transistor on the board that are faulty and the reason was the connection terminals that was broken...
Hoping to just get a new trasistor and it should be ok again!
