New Tyre Choice

Hi All,

Looking for new tyres to go on my new wheels. Am getting 225/40/18 and so far have narrowed it down to 3 for reasons below

Uniroyal Rainsports 3 - Highly recommended by people

Nankang ULTRA SPORT NS-2 - Been recommended by a few people

Goodyear excellence - A bit dearer than the above but can get a set practically new for around £200

Budget is about £200-£250

Opinions on the above or any other recommendations appreciated

You wont get "Really" good performance tyres for 250 for 4.

Really, the facebook page I am on for MK5 Owners Club all highly recommend Rainsport 3's and they are £240 on camskill

They are ok... I wouldnt run them though. I can get you 4 AD08R for 360

The jump between mid-range and performance tyres is quite big. Look out for some deals on topcashback and hotukdeals.

The Goodyear ones retail for around £300 odd so are these still mid range. I know it does not always go off price

I don't think the Goodyear Excellence is positioned as a performance tyre. The product description reads more like a "normal" tyre. In comparison, the Eagle F1 is described as  "ultra high performance".

I got the Eagle F1s back in December for around £160 fitted at National Tyres. They grip unbelievablely well and give real confidence. Not the last word in steering feel, however (see my member's ride for my reasoning).

had nangkangs on my accord type r, they were £40 a corner, did a wet/icy track day with them and I was blown away.............
Not sure how much they are in 18" but well worth a punt in my opinion
