ABS, ESP & Tyre Pressure lights on - ABS not working
« on: March 30, 2016, 07:19:49 pm »
Hi All

A while ago I had the typical sensor issue on the drivers side rear wheel. Had the sensor and the bearing replaced and all was fine for 6 months. I've now got the sane fault code on the same wheel.

Should the ABS work with this issue? I tested mine today and mine isn't working.

Thanks

Had the exact same problem a few months ago, it'll most likely be the sensor itself that gone if it's throwing the same problem up. I replaced my bearing and it was all ok, however when I took it to my mate he said it could be one of the other, you wont know until taking the wheel off. If you've replaced the bearing, it'll almost certainly be that.

Bet it's the bearing. I replaced my hub (includes bearing) and it solved the issue, although first time I replaced it I got a non genuine hub and I had to replace it with a genuine to solve the problem.

There are two types of hub for our golfs, and no one knows what size you have until you take it off. But I'd say it's almost definitely a 30mm internal diameter opposed to 32mm.

Exactly the same, mines was the 30mm on an 05 which for some bizarre reason was £50rrp more than the 32mm lol!

I had the same issue.  I had the hub / bearing replaced with a genuine hub and it failed. I had it replaced again (I took it back to the garage & they did it under warranty) and its fine now.  The bearing went on my first replacement with it throwing loads of grease out the back.
