Oi!! Chris! No way does your GTI look at all "chavvy"!

I'm surprised - I thought you were more of a driver than a show person.

Well, personally I don't think its chavvy at all, I think it looks purposeful and aggressive, but there have been comments made by people in the past suggesting/implying that they think its a bit chavvy. And it wouldn't be a reflection on me either because I couldn't be further from being a chav (incase anyone wondered haha!)

Yes Robin, I'm definitely a driver, maybe "show car" was the wrong words. I've been surfing the M3 forums for a while now, and so many people just completely ruin the car by just putting aggressive looking/chrome/deep dish/more track orientated wheels on the car - particularly the Yanks. IMO it just ruins the car totally!! You would be surprised to see some of these examples, they make me feel sick!! I just don't think that the 'racing' or 'track' look suits the M3.

My thought with the BBS LM's is that they are a very strong, well made wheel, and I gather are lighter than the stock wheels too. The car will also be put on coilovers, all bushes done, uprated front strut brace etc etc etc so it will definitely be able to handle well. It will look like a "show car" with respect to putting the LM's on which look very classy, slamming it on the coils and a few subtle bodywork changes (no new splitters/bumpers, just subtle changes!)

I'll be sure to put a build thread on here if the mods will let me. I don't really want to leave this community!

I think you'll find Chris it's people who don't know any better that use that word when it comes to modifying your car!

Track look works when it's done for a purpose....

Someone I know's CS. Caged, carbon roof'd, AP'd, lightened etc etc - goes super well!

That does look lovely! I'll admit, the track look does work when fitted with the OEM 18" wheels as pictured above. Its when people mess with other manufacturer wheels where I think it starts to look trashy. If i saw an M3 for sale fitted with the 18"s and it was the right overall spec I'd buy it in a heartbeat over one fitted with the 19"s.

Alternatively, putting the CSL wheels onto an M3 looks superb, but its becoming such a cliché...I would say around 70% of people on the forums just do that. It looks fantastic, I'll admit, they really are great looking wheels (and very light too), but it would just be too much like 'following the crowd' for my liking. Plus the fact that I want it in Silver Grey - so by putting CSL wheels on it, I don't want the car to be looked upon as a CSL 'wannabe'!

That's the way to do it. The CS/CSL/GTS is what the M3 is really all about - IMHO.

Is it my screen, or is that a Q plate?
Only 250.1bhp - but with that noise, who cares?

Yeah it's a Q - was bought purely to be a track car, so when a cheap stolen/recovered (iirc) turned up, t'was too good to resist.

CSLs are great and I'd have one in a heartbeat, but I can't get on with that SMG 'box having driven DSG. So, a nice CS for me and semi prepped so it was still comfy but had purpose.

CSL wheels are a no-no unless they're real. Magnesium FTW!

100% agree! I can't get on with SMG either. Definitely must go for real CSL's yes. Even the wheels on the CS (which look exact to the CSL wheels) are not as light - I assume they are only made of alloy!

This is the real reason you're getting a BMW isn't it Chris   : -

I love BMW's too. That CSL/M3 series is very elegant and a future classic  :notworthy:
