Evoms fitted. Engine management light is on?!?
« on: April 21, 2016, 05:52:18 pm »
Hi

Had evoms intake fitted today along with bcs tbe  and the engine management light has come on.

Mate plugged it in and scan said misfire on cylinder 1,  however car was not sounding or driving like there was a misfire present. He then turned the warning light off.

It's now back. No issues with way it's running.

I think I remember reading somewhere that's the evoms air intake has this affect on tbe sensor or something but not 100%.

Anyone experience this at all.?

Thanks

I'm not 100% on this but I believe that a TB exhaust on a standard map can sometimes bring a dash light on, probably exacerbated with an intake. Not sure what map you have, if you're stock try a stage 1.
A cat back system won't do this I don't believe. Evoms is a good intake but I'm not sure it'll play happily on a stock car.

I'm sure somebody with more detail will be along  :happy2:

Gone but not forgotten :-)

Thought it would be one of the 2. Tbe or evoms..

Car seems to be running fine but obviously could do with being setup properly.

Ttrs brakes have been fitted to cope with the hike in power...tbe and evoms also fitted.

Just have to get the eurojet fmic on along with hpfp then it's off to r tech we Go!!!

Can't wait

How many miles since the tbe was fitted?

My light came on 168 miles after fitted. I don't think the intake would cause a issue the engine light unless the sizing was way of for the maf scaling

If it's the symbol of an engine illuminated, that's the exhaust/emissions warning. The engine management warning is a different symbol (EPC). A problem on the intake side (MAF etc) won't illuminate the exhaust warning.

I have the exhaust light on. I also have a full Powervalve. I don't have an aftermarket intake.

Get a the car mapped (should be Stage 2 with those mods) and the tuner will map out the light.

There's a thread I started recently that's full of knowledgeable replies from people more knowledgeable than me. I'll find it.
