Went for a little run today:

Chris
It wouldn't be fun if it was easy, I just wish it wasn't this much fun.

After I changed my inlet manifold for the alloy one with no swirl flaps then the vacuum actuator has been made redundant. Until now I'd just folded the rubber pipe over on itself and cable tied it together to prevent leaks, however I was never happy with this solution and have since managed to source a little silicone cap for it which is much neater and will proved a proper seal.

Here it is since I did the manifold change:

Pipe removed:

Silicone cap:

Here is the company I got it from (as a free sample  :happy2:) They have loads of sizes and colours etc. I would have liked mine to be black but they didn't do it in that size so just got what they had:

Cheers,

Chris

While the car was in at a local garage getting it's clutch and flywheel replaced then I also supplied and asked them to change the end cap for the gearbox as it was leaking gearbox fluid.

While I had the car up on the lift doing the brakes then I noticed that it hadn't been changed so got the garage to order up a new cap for me as they'd lost the last one I'd supplied and just fitted it myself. Once again I have to thank my friend Murray for his help and the use of his lift.

Before, still leaking:

Old cap removed and cleaned up around the area:

New cap all fitted:

Once the new cap was fitted then we checked the fluid level and it took quite a bit so was definitely needing it sorted! Glad to finally have this little job done as it's been on my mind since I found it.

Another little thing is I removed the GT badge from the front grille and I'm quite pleased without it, looks a bit neater at the front end. Can easily be refitted anytime though.

Well... thank you photobucket for not letting me share my images anymore...  :slap: I guess I'll need to upload them all somewhere else and then go all the way through the thread and upload them again... joy.

Massive thanks to @dazza  for saving the images and meaning I didn't have to re-upload everything!

Have started to upload some new images to imgur so hopefully it won't do the same as photobucket.

Anyway, back at the ranch, there's really not been much to report with the golf anyway other than general washes and putting miles on it. Have got an engine warning light up just now and a scan says it's a problem with the glow plug or the wiring to it in cylinder 1 so will investigate that when I get time, however, the car is running really well just now. Here's a pic after a recent wash:

I noticed that one of your future mod plans is upgrading to Bilstein with H&R springs. I've been seeing some suggestions on pairing those parts. Were you able to do the mod? Hoping to get some feedback on it.

Hi @GT-eye  I've not had the time or the money to spend on the golf lately so not done any suspension mods. Not even got around to fitting my H&R anti roll bars yet.

Cheers,

Chris

I have the B12 with eibach springs on my TDI.

All though my car was lowered from when I ordered it from VW back in the days, the B12 kit is alot better to drive with in my opinion :)
And I don't even upgraded the roll bars yet.

I know what you going through Chris :D - No time or money these days to stuff I want for the car.. Still need new front brakes to finish my brake setup
