Aircon problem

Everything is going wrong with it today guys!

Aircon is suddenly not blowing cold so I'm obviously thinking a re-gas is needed,maybe due to sudden leak. Had a quick squint under the hood and you can't hear the compressor kick in when someone is pressing the a/c button on/off. Any ideas before I book it in somewhere.

Get a fault scan first, that'll tell you if the compressor is at fault. The two times I've had a similar issue was because of failed O-ring seals.

Just to update,had a nose about earlier and if you wiggled the pressure switch sensor you can hear gas hissing. Not sure if the sensor itself is at fault or where it joins the pipe. Did try to remove it but as you probably all know there ain't much room down below the alternator. Looks like there's a tab to release the electrical connection but my fat fingers weren't having any joy!

After scraped knuckles and a bruised arm the connector on top of sensor is not budging! To the garage it is...... :sad1:

You need a crows-foot spanner to remove the sensor - easy job if you have the tool.  Sensor failure is common fault, make sure you also replace o-ring seal as often they perish & leak.

As above, although my advice would be to discharge the system (using a professional service only), then get all O-rings replaced while the system is being serviced. When one is worn, likely that the others aren't in great shape so for the sake of a bit more labour, do it all in one hit for peace of mind.

My local aircon specialists don't charge for O-rings when re-gassing, they fit them as part of the service (if any are needed but they also change them if you ask). And they do a discount if you use them more than once, saved me some money when I had multiple failures of O-ring seals on my Mk5 GTI...

I haven't got a crows foot socket and can't get connector off,it'll need a re-gas so I'll have to pass on this little job unfortunately.

The motor been in the garage today,it's throwing up a pressure switch sensor fault but no leaks have been found even though I heard it hissing from the sensor?! I presume they'll try a re-charge now. Probably should replace the sensor for piece of mind?
