Inline thermostats 06 BWA DSG, one or two?

Hi,

2006 gti dsg BWA engine. I am in the process of renewing my cooling system and have purchased 2 inline thermostats to replace the 2 I should apparently have.

I've replaced the dsg one under the battery, but can not change the one by the radiator as its not there. Far as i can see from etka and a number of other sites, links etc it should be on the rubber hose attached to the lower end of the solid pipe bolted to the dipstick, am i wrong? I've removed the large hose/plastic pipe and there is nothing hiding behind it. Its not there.

Two things: should it be there? And because its just the rubber hose, should i add it, just cut the hose and insert so to speak. I'm obviously reluctant to do this because it seems wrong.

I actually used this excellent guide when I started changing them, and the second thermostat is just not there. If I had thought when I was under the car I would have taken a picture.

Maybe it's been taken out?. There's no harm in fitting one in place as I'm sure there was a reason to have three in the first place.

That was my thinking, gona have a go changing tha main thermo tomorrow, so will do it then. Will take pics if i remember.

No worries and make sure the inline will fit in between the pipe before splicing into it

06 BWA doesn't have a second one I believe that was pre 06. They just have the one above the oil cooler like mine did. I also ordered two so now I just have a spare.

Ahh, that makes more sense then. That means I have a spare also. it was confusing the nonsense out of me, especially when the VW dealer I got the part from agreed that it should have 2.

The norm is to use paypal. Unless you a 100% trust the person, you should never pay for an item with the gift option. It should always be for goods and services. The goods and services option takes a small fee from the sellers account (usually for 3% ish).

for example, if I were to send you 15£, you would only receive £14.55. So instead, I send 15.46  and you receive the full £15. This protects myself from fraudulent activity. Obviously in our case you wont need to worry about this, as It is me that is sending the money.

Apologies if you already know all this, but incase you didn't - its good to know. Its always worth paying a little bit extra for protection against fraudulent activity.

Yeah can confirm the AXX only has 2 of them. I wonder if that means it heats up quicker?
