Odd Air-Con issue
« on: May 08, 2016, 08:39:08 pm »
So yet another mk5 golf with an air con issue. I have searched the web high and low for others that have experienced this and have come up empty. My air con blows cold, it works flawlessly... for about 30 seconds. Then all airflow into the cabin is shut off. You can still hear the blower working behind the dash, and if I press the econ button twice, it all comes back and works for another 30 seconds. Went to the coast yesterday and with these temps I had to keep pressing the econ button twice every 30 seconds all the way there. Talk about annoying.

Anyone had this happen or heard of this issue and what causes it?

Also is there anyone in the Cambridge area with VCDS that would give my golf a quick fault scan?

Thanks

Sounds like you have a 2005 / early 2006 mk5 with mk6 climatronic fitted.

Only the wires for flap motors haven't been altered.

Is so, put original panel in for now and sort it out when colder :D
If you have diesel mk5 with mk6 climatronic you may need ecu swap too, which I had to do.

More info here.

Hi ady,

To my knowledge the air con is standard mk5. It's the dual zone climate control, but I certainly have not changed it. The car is a 2004 GT TDI.

it looks like this one:

Thanks for your help. I'm going to try to find someone localish to Cambridge to get a scan done to see if any errors pop up.
