K03 DV to K04 location wiring loom
« on: May 11, 2016, 01:14:39 am »
Hi All, recently just bought myself my first gti. So far I love it, it's a red 3 door 2005 manual gti.

It is currently Revo Stage 1 with a EVOMS cold air intake installed. I want to move the DV to the front of the car, I know which parts I need except for the wiring extension.

Does anyone know the best place to get one or any tips on how I can make it up on my own?

Thanks

I haven't seen anywhere you can buy the actual extension loom from. I think it was Alex at aks that did this dv conversion on the k03 vrs. Iirc,he just followed the stock dv wiring loom and rerouted it to the from. I haven't had a chance to see the route it goes but it's worth a try as anywhere selling the loom separate will sell it expensive no doubt

Easier to change the DV in the future

Keeps it cooler than being on the turbo

makes the job easier if going k04 in the future

Can buy here:

https://fr-rtuning-shop.co.uk/k03-to-k04-diverter-valve-dv-relocation-wiring-harness.html

Or make one yourself

Or as mentioned above I have done the same as Alex at aks and traced back the original loom (through the coil pack loom)

That's mate,

What route does the k03 dv loom take, left or right side of the engine? is it a tight fiti or is there enough slack to cable tie it securely?

thanks

Cheaper to buy the wires and connectors than to buy the loom already made. There are a few good guides online on how to make the K03 to K04 conversion that explain where the loom goes.

Comes back up to the top from the left, and back through the coil pack loom, easily accessed removing the conduit. May have to remove the plug / connector depending if the wires are crossed over in that loom

There is plenty of wire to secure it somewhere

I want to move it as my cold air intake is screaming a high pitched noise under heavy acceleration and as far as I know by relocating the DV this removes the noise, also I will eventually be upgrading to a k04 so this will be a start on that project too.

So what you guys are saying, by pulling the cable back through the coilpack loom there is enough slack to get it to the front of the engine without any extensions and just stock wiring?

Is the high pitch noise at about 3-4K? That's the same on all k03 turbos and relocation won't eliminate it. But a k04 would

Yes there would be loads of wire, but as said you may have to disassemble the connector and pins to trace it through the loom. I can take photos of mine tomorrow if required.  :happy2:

Yes its at that RPM, and I am positive this will remove the noise, there are lots of people on other forums have said after fitting a relocation kit it removes the noise.
See here: http://www.golfmkv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=99830

And that is great then, I will do it this way and maybe try and buy some pvc to cover and protect the cable. That would be great if you can get some pictures.

My K03 doesnt do it....  modifying the intake can get rid of it.........and I'd rather stick with a DV+ than change all of the pipework for no gain at all

AWE has a rear position DV relocate kit that would allow you to use the wiring you have. It puts the DV where the intake meets the turbo. http://www.eurosporttuning.com/audi/engine/turbocharger/awe-tuning-diverter-valve-relocation-kit-2-0t-fsi.html

The shorter, but larger diameter, hose is the intake to turbo...and the longer, but smaller diameter, hose is the DV to sound pipe connection. I have this with my K04...so this kit comes with the block-off plate for the K03.

What modification achieves that?

Not exactly no gain at all, I relocated my DV at half the price of a DV+
