Edition 30 Intake recommendations
« on: May 11, 2016, 05:25:32 pm »
What intakes are recommended? I tried looking for the ITG however seems it not produced anymore.

What others are rates and available?

Thanks

For noise or power?

VW Racing intake claims the most power (+30hp) when remapped.  Not sure I believe that tbh but it's also over £400.   Plenty of Drop-in panels available from the usual suspects.  Some folk like the Revo intake, some folk like the Evoms intake too.  I think APR do one too.  I'm pretty sure google will bring up a lot of suggestions.

I don't have one (yet) but I've heard the oversize Ramair kit gives comparable gains to the likes of Revo and ITG for a much better price.

Have seen plenty of suggestions. APR, VW R, REVO etc.

Want a bit more noise but want power too.

Was looking at revo but revo price. Hence ITG.

How does ram air compare for quality?

Hi mate,

I have an ITG thats about 1000 miles old with a bigger filter then standard too and its brilliant. I may sell it for a Revo one though as it maybe is a bit too noisy for my liking.

Let me know if you'd be interested IF you really want an ITG.

Cheers,
Faz

For function Revo or Evoms. The Revo (I have one) is easy to live with and audible.  :happy2:

Gone but not forgotten :-)

The Darth Vader noise is LOUD and abit annoying to behonest and its only 2 days old.

Being DSG aswel the Turbo spooling Darth noise does not give up haha

Would happy swap for something else if i had the Chance.

Get a REVO or EVOMS. Forget most everything else inc the Maxogen. Both are as good as each other, neither are that loud on full chat and both are silent while pottering around.

Evoms is not quiet when pottering around on a DSG i can vouch for that!

Full throttle and the Turbo chatter is nice and sounds good but for normal town driving the Evoms Turbo spool Darth vader sound is loud well on my car it is anyway  :happy2:

I'm gonna go for the oversize Ram Air myself. I drove a highly modified DSG Edition30 with the Evoms intake and found it too noisy on slow cruising (must be getting old ).

My engine tuner recommended the Ram Air. Simply because he'd recently had a very good result with one...

Eg; standard K03 Mk5, turbo back exhaust, S3 intercooler, custom map. 274bhp and 280ftlb torque.

I thought that sounded very decent so that's the route I'm gonna go. Not exactly the most scientific way to make a decision I know!!!

Good luck mate,

Keep me/us imformed on the noise situation as i might change mine due to the noise level.

Had ITG on my S3 and it was nowhere near asloud as this Evoms. Im thinking is it to do with the Tubing echoing the sound as the ITG is mainly Rubber pipe work?

Has anyone seen/used the Neuspeed here? Is it any good? It seems to be good quality.
