Goodyear Eagle F1s Cracking

I've had a droning noise from the rear which is getting louder, I was pretty sure it was the usual "saw toothing" that MK5s are renowned for but wanted to make sure. I whipped the rear wheels off earlier which confirmed some odd wear on the inner edge:



Anyway, I also noticed some cracking in between the treads, again this was on the inner edge of both tyres.





The tyres are less than a year old and as you can see have still got plenty of tread, this is usually something that I would associate with old tyres. What do people think? Is this anything to worry about?

Tyre pressure?. Camber settings?. are your tyres wearing evenly?. had my asymmetric 2 on for two years audi tt and never had any issues and wear was even still had 5.8mm across all the tyres when car was sold.

Tyre pressure?. Camber settings?. are your tyres wearing evenly?. had my asymmetric 2 on for two years audi tt and never had any issues and wear was even still had 5.8mm across all the tyres when car was sold.

They are wearing evenly, pressure have been 34psi since they were fitted and have been checked regularly. Running -1.8 rear camber on both sides:

The droning points to unbalanced camber setting even though they are @ 1.8 either side. from what I've learned setting the rear camber at work with customers cars is that you can't ever get them bang on with having other issues with the tyres like you said toothing or uneven tread pattern and inner tyre wear. I'll see if I can find old receipt of the settings ad people thought there was an issue but for the two years after having it done I have no tyre issues or cracking with the tyres. too much camber on the inner is pushing the tyres out causing the cracks. someone tell me otherwise.

Date code is 1915 so they're about 12 months old.

I thought (and it is only a thought!) that you couldn't dial in as much as -1.9 degrees of camber? If that's the case then I'd question the data on the report, by that I mean the proficiency of the operator. Or I'd be looking for a failed component causing it.

Date code is 1915 so they're about 12 months old.
Well in that case I'd ring Goodyear and ask where you can send a photograph as well as showing the supplying fitting retailer.

The droning is absolutely doing my head in, I'm going to swap them onto the front soon anyway to see if they are quieter.

It's more the cracking that I'm interested in, I've never seen tyres so that unless they are really old.

Should read 1ºXX'   1º45' for example

Tyre is a 215 on 8j so only a tiny bit of stretch, I've ran much more in the past with no issues. -1.8 is hardly excessive, it's bang in the middle of the acceptable range.

I completely trust the guys who did the alignment, what's the maximum adjustment you can usually get?

Sorry, misunderstood. The car was very low when the alignment was done (and still is) which could explain why there is more rear camber than usual.
