MK5 GTI belt slip at low revs?
« on: May 17, 2016, 01:28:45 pm »
Recently got myself a mk5 gti - Today I heard a belt slipping at around 1k revs, goes away as soon as I speed up...Happens throughout the gears.

Any idea what belt it might be?

Milage is 107k.

Any help appreciated!

Welcome to the forum.

Take the belt off and check the alternator pulley. it should only spin in one direction and not the other.
Also check the tentioner with a 15mm spanner as this can seize.

Thanks, I'll get some pics up of the motor soon.

Are you referring to the auxiliary belt?

Thanks
