They're meant to be pretty to good for what they are. Though you'll never have the same result as a custom map will give you.

Rather you than me.....

All that does by the look of it is plug in to the injector loom and fool the engine in to injecting more fuel than it should be...... No increase to boost, no adjusting the boost control, safety paramaters to suit.....

The reason it gives great MPG by the way is because the trip computer has no idea you are getting the extra fuel, so it thinks you are using less than you actually are.

Get a proper remap for the same money

I'm with this opinion on this. Remapping is your best route forward.

Gone but not forgotten :-)

I'd only consider an option like this if there was a particular reason why you can't/won't get a remap.

You can get a generic remap for about the same price but I would rather get a custom one......more expensive and way better esp if it has been live mapped  :booty:

Brand new car with no hardware issue, minimal variations to turbocharger control (unlike high mileage TDIs!!!) and an expensive car still in warranty are the only reasons I would ever even consider one

Considering you can buy a £15 cable and a map for £45-£100 and DIY it yourself..... Personally on a PD140 I would only ever consider a proper live map from someone who knows what they are doing, as the turbos aren't the best on them and high mile examples often don't last long when increasing power

These are ok for what they do (chuck in some more fuel)

But for the same price you could get a local mobile mapper to slap a generic on there.

The advantage that i see with these though is you can just take it off when you want unlike a map

Don't R-Tech remap the diesels for about £290?

Can't believe their prices to be honest for a custom rolling road map, compared to the generic maps and the results they get!

I'm booked in for the June on my GTI, counting down the days!

Comparable price aside, I'd be much more comfortable with a proper live map from R-Tech than the unknown quantity of a tuning box or lesser known generic map, considering how weak the 140 turbo seems to be.

A mate of mine bought a mapped 140. Turbo died. Replaced with a hybrid and made a safe 210bhp with a map from Ben at Shark (another good mapper).

Worth considering a bit of turbo work if just for reliability.
