Alarm works but doesn't beep

Just wondering my mate tried to code beeping when locking in to my car and we realised my alarm works but makes no noise anyone else had this ??

The siren itself will be dead, I had to replace mine when I bought the car. It's located in a metal box behind the o/s front arch liner. You have to drill the rivets out to remove the old one.
