That was a discussion on how the law could be ammended, the document I linked to is more up to date than that info as it is from Oct 2008. Agree to disagree on this one  :happy2: You going tomorrow?

Interesting with your link Dom.....

its says....

If your selling a vehical with extra tinting applied to the windscreen or front side windows, the vehical may have glass that is darker then is permitted by construction and use regulations,in which case the vehical should NOT BE SOLD.  :surprised:

Case to get your money back off them if it was sold like that.. The Fine impossed by that

I had to get my front windscreen changed a couple of months back because of a stone chip.

Auto glass offered a the windscreen in green or blue tints... It's very subtle, not like the after sale or VW tints.

Hope that helps!

P.S.  If anyone is wondering I went for blue.

Vw won't tint the fronts from factory but once the car is with them there is nothin stopping them getting a 3rd party in to tint the windows. The windows have a slight tint but we are talking hardly noticeable.  If you got it from vw and its not legal I'd be going back and 1st getting any tint taken off and 2nd gettin them to pay the fine.

Don't even talk to me about that dealer. The whole synter group is crap. Ring them and the will be too busy to talk 2u let alone replace their problem. I got mine from wrexham dealer which is a 50min drive, and I have yet to go get all the stuff sorted that was wrong from new.

I'm not registered with my car in UK but when i went last time to the RR day in Surrey i got pulled over from some cops,
who wanted to immobilise my car because my windscreen was tinted so i had to remove them on the place but i dunno if they
were allowed to ask me to do this coz i'm actually only a tourist over here btw i m registered in Luxembourg.
For the 2 front windows they checked it with a machine which showed the how many light i will let trough but i failed again xD .. but i ould drove away without any fine but the windscreen tint removed =(. They told me if i were registered in the uk they could take the MOT away and fine me a 70£ . hope it helps

my car was mot'd a couple of weeks ago by VW.no problems. no mention of tints. though i do believe it only affects mot if windscreen is tinted. mine is just the two fronts & rears.
