So today I managed to get some time to go over the interior and post some pictures of the inside.

One of my favourite things about the car, the seats;

I also managed to fit my Euro Cup Holder around a month ago, properly happy with this mod

I then gave the car a quick wash

Better than what I got - I had a VW Up! And they always give me a manual car even though I request an auto. Hate driving manuals!

The Up did have beats audio in which I've not seen before (my standard golf sound system sounded better if I'm honest!)

Haha its a nice car really, perfect for driving round town but think it would struggle for power on fast roads/motorways. I really like the bluetooth audi and mfsw and has got me thinking!

The next piece of the puzzle arrived last week, a genuine cruise control stalk. Will be getting this fitted and coded around March time.

So today I went to VW to pick the car up after having its front wings replaced under their bodywork guarantee. When I first got there I spotted the car so had a proper look round the car before going in.

I must say they have done a top job with the car and am so happy with it, they have replaced the two wings with brand new parts, modified the new sponge on the inside so its not exposed and then run a silicone bead around it to prevent it from happening again. They have also blended the paint so is a really good match and you wouldn't be able to tell.

I then went into the dealership and was greeted by one of the bodyshop supervisors, he asked me if i'd had a look round the car and said yes, he then got me to sign the warranty sheet saying the work they had done to the car, I have got a copy of this and will keep for my own record to show the work has been done. We swapped keys he had a quick look round the polo then that was it I was off.

I am so happy with the work they've done it was worth the 8 month and at no point was I asked for a single contribution by VW for the work.

The pictures don't do them justice but heres a few

When I got the car I noticed that the interior grab handles were quite worn and looking at the how to's on mk5gti.co.uk I decided that this was a job i'd like to do. When I put an order in for my service bit's from TPS I also ordered the three trim parts I needed. With this I also decided to change the headlight switch, window switches and fuel switch to the newer mk6 type.

So having got the car back from VW today I decided to get them swapped over.

IMG_5436 by jamie kirk, on Flickr

Headlight Switch

IMG_5461 by jamie kirk, on Flickr

First off, in the off position push the switch inwards

IMG_5466 by jamie kirk, on Flickr

Twist to the automatic lights position

IMG_5467 by jamie kirk, on Flickr

Then simply pull out and unclip the electrical connecter

Passenger Side

To start we used the trim removal tool to separate the two plastic pieces, the top one is held in by two t30 screws, we removed these and then thought the handle would then come away...

IMG_5490 by jamie kirk, on Flickr

IMG_5491 by jamie kirk, on Flickr

However, the handle is also held in by two screws at the back so it meant we would have to remove the door card to gain access.

The replacement

IMG_5492 by jamie kirk, on Flickr

IMG_5493 by jamie kirk, on Flickr

IMG_5494 by jamie kirk, on Flickr

We then took the door card off, the door card itself is held in place by 4 t20 screws one on the side and three along the bottom

IMG_5495 by jamie kirk, on Flickr

IMG_5496 by jamie kirk, on Flickr

We then lifted up the door card

IMG_5498 by jamie kirk, on Flickr

I then located the two t20 screws to undo, the handle then came away and we reversed the process

Really nice work there! Any chance you could post up the part numbers and prices for the switches as it's something I'm considering doing myself  :happy2:
