Don't forget you have auto wipers haha!  I'll look into auto close on rain sensing for you.

Pleasure to meet you Jamie. Really nice Mk5, I must say.  With your aspirations for it I think it's going to be one of the really great examples. Very well cared for.

Sorry I didn't have time for more of a social after mate, just about made it to the test centre in time.

Happy to help you sort your droplinks and / or your DV  :happy2:

Thanks mate and you too! Like I said earlier just a shame you'll be moving soon :doh: Haha it's alright glad you made it there in time, I'm assuming it passed :P If I get the gfb before July i'll let you know, but will hopefully see you before that anyway to sort out the unlock and haha I won't forget about the wipers now!

I think it might be an advisory but i'd rather just change it to be honest then I won't have to worry about it!

Yeah, of course. I was just curious about the test.

No. Possibly just an advisory

So with the MOT coming up this month I decided to fix the only advisory the car got last year; the high level brake light.

Volkswagen would charge just under £400 to do this job as they say that you need to remove the rear spoiler to access the light. Having read up online I decided to do the fix myself. So on the day I had my cruise control fitted I nipped to TPS to get the new one.

The advisory last year was High level brake light not illuminating but not more than 50%

Before

The light appears to have let water in over the years which i'm guessing why some of the led's have stopped working, a comparison;

The new one

So we started by drilling a hole into the old one to break the cover

We then used a screwdriver in the hole we made to use to push out the old light

We then pulled the wire out to expose the connector

All connected and tested to make sure it worked

And fitted

Finally I angled the rear screen washer jet to the right so will not be directly towards the light.
