Bilstein shock and Eibach lowering springs

I'm still thinking about the b4 dampers to be honest. I e read differing views.

Thing with ride quality is that it's really down to preference.

I brought a front pair of genuine tt ones and monroe amd lowered 40mm on amax springs and the ride was brilliant better than the golf as standard and had a lot more grip but I think the eagle F1 tyre's also helped as I used to get spin going around corners with the Dunlop.

What tyres ypu running out of curiosity?.

I'm running Continental Sport Contact 5 at the moment - they were on the car when I bought it.  Decent tyre.

I have sh*te budge Avon and some other rubbish on the back. keep forgetting the name. Good tread so will only replace when required with Eagle F1 only. I like the tyres.

I had B8's with Sportlines before the present set-up...that's a really good coupling...still have the B8's on paired with H&R SuperSports in front and H&R Street Performance Coilover springs and adjusters in back. But you will appreciate the B8's for life.

I used fk coilovers on my tt and took them of within two weeks as above ride was sh*te but looked good although the shock failed the day I had them fitted and  will never use any sort of coilovers again. lowering springs and decent shocks from now on.

Had FK's on my last A3, they were just about bearable on 17's but once it had 18's on it the ride wasn't the best. Had some KW V1's on a Quattro A3 before that and it's the best suspension I've ever had on a car. Firm enough for a track day around Castle Combe but comfy enough to use every day..
If you buy coilovers for the same price as you'd pay for shocks and springs, you could end up having a bad time.

I wouldn't spend money on entry level dampers that are like normal Golf suspension, not even sport suspension like B6.

I went for H&R -30 mm springs with Koni Sports and spent £512. The dampers are adjustable and repairable. I don't know why here only talk about Bilstein dampers. Before the Ed. 30 I chose to get Koni FSD with Eibach Pro-Kit springs for my GT Sport and couldn't be happier with the setup. For the Ed. 30 of course I had to get a more sporty suspension since I want to go to track days with the car at least a couple of times per year.

The B4 I'm looking at are the versions specifically for the GTi / Ed30.   Although you can get B4 for the other variants, the part numbers are slightly different.

They're still not a sport damper like the B6 and the B8 (which is the best to use with lowering springs).

The B4 is a stock ride height oem replacement. Not sure what suspension you plan to migrate to but would suggest considering if you plan to lower it in the future to get what you need long term.

Where are these guys based as I recall buying something from the states and it cost me an extra £40 gbp for the price I paid of £160 thinking it was cheap and ended up with paying customs to release the deka injectors I ordered.
