Not really sure,  but stuggling when cold and get some movement In the needle then settles. VW are keeping it in tonight and going to get in touch tomorrow, got a courtesy UP for now

Update .
Car has been in to dealers for a couple days there conclusion is that the car is running as lean as possible and that is the reason for the car misfiring. And that the engines map is able to adapt and correct the misfires. I was told they had a job to find the misfires and when they did it misfired 2 times in an hour on one cylinder and 1 on another.
So the vcds scan I had must have been to sensitive.?
Really not sure what to do now they said on the phone they are not willing to investigate further . And will not accept me rejection of the vehicle as they have said there is nothing wrong .

Do you get any rough idle after you have given it a bit of a spirited drive after u sit in idle any idle drops? As others have said carbon build up whip off intake manifold clean out intakes and injectors as you said it has 50k on it probably why it was traded into a dealer before will defo need doing if it has never been done with that mileage

When you say idle drops Tiggymala do you mean the Rev counter dropping .? Or just the feeling of the idles dropping off .?

So after several visits back to the dealer PCV spark plugs and coil pack replaced there's no improvement  . The dealer and customer services have concluded there's nothing they can do . The dealer have said there are misfires occurring but as there is no EML there happy there's nothing to worry about.i have spoken to VW tuners and have been advised the only real way of diagnosis is by removing the injectors and flow testing them and a de Coke if required .

I've been using them for years really know their stuff .
They are based in a Marsh Barton so not to far away from you.

Well after numerous visits back to the dealers and with their assurance that my issues are not a failing or clogged injector, more normal characteristics of an engine of my age.
I booked the car in for media blasting going in on Monday & I am hopeful this will finally solve the issues I'm experiencing .

Went in for the walnut blast yesterday took the car in 9Am and it was ready to collect 5pm cost was £270 all in, also got before and after video of the valves they were quite bad but are gleaming now . Idle has smoothed out but it is very early on to call it a success only drove 70 miles on the way home.

Just take it to a proper specialist or someone that knows TFSi's well and give VW UK the bill they dont give a toss if its something past a coil pack, jokers.

Hope this fixes it for you, in relation to your findings on VCDS etc, the ECU has tolerance before it records a actual fault, for example you can get misfires and it won't class it as a fault, there needs to be a level of misfire before it even logs it as an issue. If the second tech you took it to just looked at the blocks he could well have seen a miss, but if its below the threshold it won't log as a issue. Hence the first dealer would look for ECU error codes and there would be non. I have heard many TFSI cars have very slight miss on idle, its subtle, but common

The techs both advised it was missing (misfiring) but as it was not on a specific cylinder it was not a fuel injector issue . VW technical had copy's off the measuring values recorded on a dis file & advised that it was normal characteristics for my engine, the reason i was getting a misfire was these cars run so lean on idle unburnt fuel causes a misfire . Since having the walnut blasting the cold starts have been much better. However  I do still feel a miss every now and then when stationary at idle when at lights etc . If this isn't normal the only possibility left I believe is injector(s).the video of the shell blasting before and after was proof enough that it needed doing the back of the valves were stinking so I'm glad I had it done anyway.
