Thud on lifting clutch in low gears, dvice needed
« on: June 12, 2016, 11:09:38 pm »
On lifting the clutch on my 2.0tsi Scirocco I have a thud and lack of smoothness on some changes.  I have started to lift the clutch slowly to avoid this which doesn't always work and spoils the flow of driving. This is worst changing into 2nd, poor into 3rd and just detectable in 4th and non existent in 5th and 6th.  In addition changes in low gears are smoother at higher revs and worse at low. I was thinking of a lower engine mount issue so have had a vibratechniques lower mount fitted but it hasn't helped.  There is also some vibration when holding the car on a hill which I dont do very often.  I'm thinking of DMF or drive shaft problems but would appreciate some advice before having it looked at.  Thanks, Brendan

Could be a clutch release bearing?

The clutch and release bearing but not the flywheel were changed under warranty about 10k miles ago so hope this isn't related. Can the release bearing be changed easily without gearbox removal?
