Is it really that much? When I had the timing chains replaced on my Corrado VR6 it came to about a grand and it's essentially the same engine...

The Corrado was (still is) a lovely looking car - well ahead of its time in style. The Mk1 Scirroco was very stylish, too. Off topic, sorry :smiley:

the tax bill was the big offputting thing for me...

I love the noise of them though...  :evilgrin:
The tax band put me off them too as I'm paying £500 a year wtf

Corrado is fwd and the R32 A3 are quattro and a lot more work believe me.

the insurance for a gti and R32 were 70£ from each other only.

I have a similar thing with my insurance if I were to go VR6 but the road tax puts me right off again. The older cars are a bit of a nah for me as I like the look of the new versions. What to do  :sad1:

I have a similar thing with my insurance if I were to go VR6 but the road tax puts me right off again. The older cars are a bit of a nah for me as I like the look of the new versions. What to do  :sad1:
Nothing will top the sound from a Vr6 engine with Milltek catback non-res

I was revving one up at work on Wednesday and it sounded unreal in fell in love with that noise all over again so may decide to get a 55 56 05 06 early tax band and face lift it  :grin:

55 means late 2005,  05 means early 2005
