I was working on a A3 3.2 today and they sound awesome  :driver: I'd have one lol

Exhaust remap filter that's about it lol

Check timing chain has been replaced at the minimum prone to rattle. everything else is just a golf  :signLOL:

You can remap then but don't expect much more power as the map just helps it drive better. For more you will have to either sur a charger or turbo it and they and not cheap

Best part of £10k for a turbo charged system so I've read from a few TT owners. That was just parts shipped from USA lol apparently remap gives you around 7 to 10 bhp. No joke  :surprised:

Just my 2 pennies...

It might be worth looking at the A3 3.2 as they are nearly the same car and about 50% cheaper. Same chassis too I think. Then will give you more money for mods as said above turbo charging isn't cheap on these. I had the a3 3.2 and just a simple resonator delete will have it sounding better than the r32.

Only thing to really worry about is the chain. Mine was quiet when I bought it but after about a year I had a grinding noise coming from the chain area. Probably tensioner. I also checked the limits in vcds before so must have happened only after 8k miles of me having it. And as you probably know a chain out job is a good 5k.

I went from a mk5 GTI to an R32 and apart from the £500 tax bill every year, I'm less than a tenner extra a month on fuel for the works commute  :happy2: they can achieve +30mpg on a motorway run at the speed limit..

That's why the audi equivalent made more sense as they started making them in 2004 so as long as you get one before 06 the tax is only 290.

A guy in my street has the A3 3.2, but in my opinion it sounds nowhere near as good as the exhaust system on my mk5.. plus an A3 of that era doesn't look quite as iconic

Read above. Get rid of the mid suitcase resonator and it sounds the same, if not better than the golf. Only a basic weld job.

Is it really that much? When I had the timing chains replaced on my Corrado VR6 it came to about a grand and it's essentially the same engine...
