A couple of concerns
« on: June 23, 2016, 07:14:19 pm »
Hi all after having the golf a little while know I've started to notice a few things and would like some feedback if possible.

The first image is of the top of the gearbox , just right of the centre in pic there is a hole in top and something seems to be missing , when engines running you can see the i'd imagine is the flywheel spinning around.is this an issue

The next couple are of where the cars paint is starting to blister after a shoddy respray

Then there's this diesel noise
https://vid.me/Cxg5

Theres more , the rear valance is pushed back on  the rear on drivers side behind the bumper indicating a minor bump at one point, really beginning to regret getting this car now as its on finance and the money to get it right could be as much as the car is worth

Any help or advice appreciated, I guess the timing chain and adjuster need doing and a full respray ?

Look at item 6 for your missing item http://partscatalog.info/volkswagen/en/?i=cat_vag_models&brand=vw&number=1714&set=1728&ein=2007&f=474&hauptgr=1234567890&hg=3&grf=030145420&bf=30145&hgug=301&ug=01&parent_id=2342444&detail_id=2342450

Not urgent but best fitted.

Your other problems you seem to know the answers already as I seem the problems the same as you. However, the cost need not be horrific if you follow the guide on here

Thanks for the reply doylebros, i'm thinking get the chain/adjuster done etc plus timing belt and water pump and getting the intake cleaned out (decarb) and then a remap then further down the line look at getting a full respray .

How much did the parts cost you , I can get water pump and timing belt kit online easy enough , how much am I looking at for the chain and the adjuster, I've read your guide and would be a job i'd be doing myself along with my dad who has a lot more experience then me, I've seen some vw timing tools on ebay and complete kits are these any good or do I really need the genuine vw one?  if so is there anyone on here in the north west who would hire it to me
