Cai's MK5 Gt Tdi 170
« on: July 15, 2016, 12:05:34 am »
So guys, fairly new to this whole scene, been using the forum for a good few months just not as a user! Fitter by trade though desperately out of practice, so excuse me if i seem semi knowledgeable haha! Had a mk4 1.4 before this and loved it, spurred me on to get another golf with a bit more power and still try and retain decent mpg. So without further a due, here's my ride!

57 Plate Mk5 Gt Tdi 170 sport in La7t United Grey. Bought in April 2015 @69k, third owner. Had her about four months when i decided to get some work done, had her remapped to stage one, induction kit, egr blanked and dpf deleted at Pembrokeshire Remapping. Map was a standard map up to about 214 bhp and 450nm if memory serves. That night after driving home an uninsured motorcyclist decided to try and cuddle my car at speed in the wet and caught the rear driver side. Unfortunately i was (and still am) Insured by Elephant, who were about as useful as a chocolate teapot when it came to repairs, long story short, still fighting to get it back right. Most recently had my two rear silencers swapped for straight 2.75" pipe at Powerflow Derby. Since then @Tfsi_Mike has coded in a few bits and bobs (US Spec DRL, Seatbelt warning off, lock @ 15mph and open on key removal from ignition), helped me retrofit my cruise control and got on board with my project which has been a huge help! Lots still left to do but funds are, as always, an issue so progress is slow! Currently sat at 105k and on a good careful run can get upto 65mpg. Hope you like her!

Cheers! Still working out the kinks with the repairs, some still haven't been done but getting there slowly! Yeah started modding on my mk4 1.4, bit off more than i could chew with a boot lid debadge and ended up driving around for a year with a filler coloured boot haha! Taking it a bit slower this time and doing a bit less with regards to ICE though i think a boot build may be in the pipeline somehwere!
