this time of year if you only do short journeys you will get the "yellow gunk" under the oil cap. i get this on mine to its nothing to worry about  :happy2:

Newey, Thanks for the response, and thanks for the good(ish) news. Glad that this seems nothing to worry about and that others have the same issue. Perhap I need to go out and give it a bit of a "blast" on a long journey as all of my journeys are pretty small milage wise. Do you have the same issue regarding oil usage?

yes i have to top up every couple of months i would say. During the winter i only do around 100 miles a week. but it gets used alot in the summer months.

I didn't have to top up the oil in my old 1.8T between services so like you I got a bit of a shock when I have to top up a litre or so every 4 months or thereabouts...

Seems to be normal for most.
