Pick my first Golf Gti up tomorrow :)
Juliand:
Oh, man, that is a nightmare story - when you were so looking forward to it. Hopefully you have a decent warranty / dealer sale. Any update on the problem?

Driving home tonight on the b roads, oil pressure light and a bad, bad really bad noise from the engine.
Gutted. Beyond belief.

Ah bollox :sad1: not good.
You're just on the other side of the hills to me, I'm near Stokesley / Northallerton

The nightmare continues.
So it was a cam tensioner that had snapped. The cambelt etc had been done within the last 30k miles, but apparently it was in pretty poor shape overall so my trusted garage said after it had been recovered.
All fixed for a big BIG bill. The biggest bill I've had on a car for many years.
Or so I thought... Driving home, I get 10 miles and the oil pressure warning light and engine STOP lights are back on and pinging away at me.
So it's been recovered again today and I await news.
Right now I'm deeply regretting this and wishing I had stuck with my 350Z.

The oil pick up pipe in the sump some times get blocked and can bring the light on,get the garage to check it
