Misfire when cold

Drove my R for about 400 mls at the weekend with no problems at all but when I started  it next morning from cold it has developed a misfire.
The misfire seems to clear after a couple of minutes as the engine gets warm and it drives fine.
Some may have seen this on the R forum

I changed the plugs last night to see if that would help but this morning it was the same. (Fitted NGK PFR7S8EG gapped to 0.8mm)
 
I have scanned with VCDS and there are no codes present.
 
I did notice when changing the plugs that the coil packs are from 2009 so they will most likely be the next parts that I change and tonight I will fill it with shell vpower just in case the BP ultimate I put in on the motorway services was bad.
 
Are there any other suggestions of things to look for to cure the misfire ?

could be injectors mate, mine started misfiring after r-tech map, already had brand new iridium plugs the week prior.

 fitted r8 coil packs and all is fine.

Looks like it was fuel, filled with vpower last night and this morning it was back to normal

Well it came back.

Fitted some R8 coil packs but still no joy.

Using vcds I found it to be on cylinder 1.

Now looks like this

He is only down the road so took them this morning, he has some stories but also told me that on modern injectors that have a nylon gauze filter, running to much cleaners and detergents will kill the injector by melting the gauze which then goes further into the injector and causes problems.

For £26 each he is stripping, cleaning and servicing my injectors

Bugger, turns out the problematic injector is fooked, was only at 60%. He was surprised it was only showing on idle

So this is the cause of my problems, these are filters from inside the injectors, took them to Mr Injector, whos 20 minutes from my house, he stripped, cleaned and serviced 3 of them but no1 that was causing my misfire was beyond repair and only working at 60%, new one ordered from TPS, hopefully this will fix it and it should feel better to drive







Apparently this is caused by the ethanol in the fuel and made worse by running additives and cleaners through them

My k03 GTI is quite rough on a cold start. And like yours, idles nicely once it's warmed up.

I'll be keeping an eye on your update.

I'm also getting misfires/fuel cuts, or both, under load, but I think this might be the standard fuel pump struggling (only started with the problems under load after I got the map revised from Stage 1 to Stage 2) so this could be unrelated to the bad cold starts in my case.

Fingers crossed the new injector sorts it for you anyway.

Interesting so is it a new injector or a new filter incert you've ordered and what engine code is your vehicle as those filter incerts are puzzling me.

As part of the service, 3 of the injectors had new filters fitted with new seals and cleaned out, flow and spray pattern checked.

I have ordered a complete new injector to replace the one that was beyond repair.

Engine code is CDLF

Injector part number 0 261 500 037 (Bosch PN I think)

Shows what TPS sell so I assume the filter comes with the injector I also find it strange he didn't have a service exchange injector to sell  :thinking:.
I can't find anyone in the North East who services these injectors.

I can't find anyone in the North East who services these injectors.

I assume being an R it has bigger injectors than the GTIs so they are rarer. He did say the past few sets he has done have had bad ones that he was not able to fix so could just be sold out of reman parts.

Put it all back together last night and it drove so much better today, alot more responsive and it felt like the dsg changed were smoother aswell
