Polar fis
« on: July 03, 2016, 01:41:02 pm »
Hi guys,

So I've been searching and cant find much help info on this, so seeing as there are a few other guys who have the polar i though lets make a thread.

I've had my polar for about 2 weeks now and its lovely. It's perfect for me cause I have to know everything thats going on with the car. Especially with a new car to me.

Some of the things i love about it;

* I know for sure when cold start is over - inj timing right?

* Love the boost gauge -  in bar or psi!!

* Probably more stuff, but currently my favourite thing which it fixed, one of my biggest hates of this car.  Auto lights and wipers.  They are always on or always off. So polar allowed me to "code" the sensors sensitivity to these things and they are alot better now. Thank you

I'd really like to know what others have found. And very happy to share what I've learnt from it so far. Also help from you car gurus is appreciated.

My screen so far :D

How are you measuring cold start ending ?

I like the fact you can have a digital speedo, that was a decider for me, great feature. It really needs to be true speed +user selectable offset though. At the moment it's true speed so reads lower than the needle on the gauge and gives you no ceiling for speed camera etc.

Truly great product overall ! :happy2:

They are very handy.

I usually have the following displayed

Boost in Bar
Intake Temp ºC
Fuel Rail pressure in Bar
Timing BTDC
Oil temp
Exhaust temp (calculated reading.... need to swap this out for another but CBA)

The worst thing about the whole product is the website and finding out anything related to new software releases etc, it's a mess and hard to report issues if you find them (luckily non). Would be so much easier if they just had a clear list of release and a download area.

Wouldn't be without mine now - I only really use basic parameters; mph, Boost, temps etc. Still handy. I like being able to keep an eye on oil level too.

Agree that the website/updating sucks. I left a usb cable attached so I could update in the car but I doubt I'll use it.

I'm not really too sure tbh, but i notice the injector timing drops after a few minutes running, and coincides with the drop in engine tone.

I don't know if it's correct though

Not sure, I tend to run temps, boost, stuff like that.

Found it invaluable when my main thermostate failed. You can monitor the radiator temp and the engine temp so see when the stat opens.

They have a forum where they do all the updates informations. I think I also receive emails informing.

I found an issue with the Parktronic in the cluster display while on Park in the DSG (it's feature that's only compatible with mk6 Golf OPS parking sensors that I retrofitted). The forum was useless but after contacting the support team by email they got that bug sorted and was added to the latest update.

@Cadders96 HQ Garage on Facebooj recently did a group buy on these at £180. Worth giving them a ring.

Full VCDS Hex + Can.
