vRStu:
Perhaps a better explantion of what I'm trying to say is here -

--- Quote ---SPI-Wizard Master software features :

These features allow the Master to encrypt files based on rolling code technique or on credit basis. Files will be locked to the Slave device under this Master. Files encrypted with the rolling code technique will be valid for one flash only. After flashing the file a new code will be generated inside the device . Files encrypted based on credits can be used until the Slave device runs out of credits.

Additional features are enabled in this version including e-mail generator for requesting files from the Master, Return to standard code generator, credit generator and more.

Shaun:
Guys,

As I've just ordered a Bluefin handset can someone clarify the position on these dealer software upgrades for me for future reference? Once I've installed the new map, if the dealer installs an upgrade that 'overwrites' it can I not just reinstall the enhanced map from the handset when I get the car home, or will this not work if the 'basic' map is different from the original? Does it make any difference if I uninstall the enhanced map before taking the car into the dealer (I intend to do this anyway whenver the car goes in for work). Do I need to upload the new 'basic' map to Superchips each time this happens for them to provide a revised 'new'one?

Hope this makes sense!! As you can tell I'm a little confused by all this!

Thanks,

Shaun

if the dealers software upgrade wont let you reapply the map all you do is contact Superchips and they will allow the software to be reapplied to the car, and this should be free too  :happy2:

If you take it in for service etc, just take the map off the car using handset, then when you pick the car up (usually in the VW car park if your like me LOL) just use handset to put map back on, no need to upload map to superchips

@Shaun as well - my map had to be reworked after it had been overwritten by VW as well. The two files were not the same; I whipped the new VW file onto my Bluefin and sent it to Superchips, always within 24 hrs (one case within 2 hrs!) I got a revised "fast" map back, always free of charge. Now that is excellent customer service.

Shaun, do not try to reinstall the "fast" map back on - it will not work and the ECU will get upset. Best thing to do is to download the new VW map and send to Superchips where they can adjust it.

Shaun:
Great. Thanks for that additional information.

Just out of curiosity, though, why is this necessary? Surely Superchips don't re-work their upgrade maps every time VW distribute a software update?? Or do they?

When my handset arrives do I first have to upload my original map onto it and email it to Superchips? And if so do they then amend the upgrade software they send me to reflect my specific original map?

This is all fascinating!!

Thanks,

Shaun
