Part # Request: Gearbox linkage bush/guide
« on: July 05, 2016, 09:23:57 pm »
I'd like a bit of help finding a part number please!

My MY07 manual GTI has quite a bit of play side to side when in gear. I tried resetting the linkages as an older thread suggested which has slightly improved matters (quite possibly imagining this) but it's still poor. Poked around, the bottom 'cup' bushing under the gear stick seems ok.

The biggest area of play is coming from this white piece of plastic between the shifter mech and side shifter 'arm' thing:

Mine looks significantly worse for wear:

I'm struggling to find any parts other than aftermarket. Nice as it is I don't really want to buy the forge side shifter just for a bit of plastic.. here on the bottom right.

Any help appreciated!

Double check for yourself but the part number for the part you are after I believe is
1K0711550A   And the price is £4.01 RRP

Hope this helps  :happy2:

Amazing thank you! Definitely what I need. How did you find that if you don't mind me asking? Work for VW?

My local dealer are pretty good with parts but I always like to go in with a number, makes life easier.

Thanks again.

Let me know if the replacement part helps with your shifting because I think mine might be worn in that area too.

Thanks for the link Phil. Ive used that site and vagcat before for the mk1, but when you click "golf" it only goes up to 98 or so.

Only just realised that the mk5 is under "golf/variant/4motion". (I think?) Numpty.

Thanks again, I'll post back for sure, placed the order this morning.

No worries mate.
No I don't work for vw but I do work in a body shop and have passwords to the online catalogue so I get full access to part numbers and RRP prices  :happy2:

I too have terrible play side to side even after fitting a dieselgeek sigma shifter :(
I'm hoping it's the 2 nylon bushes that the side to side pin pivots on that are worn,
After 158000 miles in guessing it's done enough pivoting ?
