I would hang on for a good GB numbered ED 30. I have only had mine about a month and only looked the at 2 before I bought my favourite car ever #1000. The first one I went to see was in excellent condition but as I looked through the docs I found it was possibly a German import. I did a VIN check and rang VW to confirm. That put me off as it didn't have any of the EU to UK transfer stuff and I wouldn't get a badge  :scared:. Having that number adds 20 mph to anyone's car.

Other reasons would be resale, insurance and spec. I eventually found one with the must haves of Xenons and lots of other goodies already fitted at a price I felt I could afford. Still not the cheapest but it was from a garage, came with a short warranty and it felt right.

Just keep looking as they seem to come along like buses, none for weeks then a rash of them. Good luck hunting mate but keep it British.

Addendum: Silly me missed the later purchase post. Nice you found something... good price too as thats what I paid for my Uk Eddy.

Stage 1 2007 Black Eddy  #1000 - VCDS Hex+Can (Novice coder). H&R springs, newish Bilstein B4's. Gen 3 Steering rack, Helix organic.  The car is *always* work in progress fixing and upgrading things.

Looks really nice and it is the latest LED model with DAB and 7 digit post codes. Apparently the later reg cars can take them without battery drain probs?
