Anyone changed to peron IC ?
« on: July 17, 2016, 02:18:31 pm »
I currently have a airtec stage 1 cooler, essentially a upgraded S3 cooler. Has anyone moved from a after market cooler to a Peron and notice better temps ?, is it a worthy upgrade or realistscally not a difference that would be noticed from the airtec ?

Peron New type meant to be very good

Trying to work out if I should have gone stage 2 airtec in the first place , tbh unless it's hot like today not sure there will be a massive diff between the airtec I have and say a Peron ?. Has anyone seen any sort of comparison between coolers ?.

If you already have an Airtec (even the smaller one which is still great) then def don't get a Peron or Airtec 2 unless your chasing big numbers and every single ounze of extra flow helps.

Hard to compare unless a tuner had run the same car with same mods and swapped out the cooler. I know Niki's misses Eddy has/had a Peron, not sure what cooler was on board beforehand.

Thanks mate, makes sense. The airtec cooler I have works a treat and tbh I can't see how anything bigger could even fit !

All intercoolers will heatsoak massively with the weather we had yesterday unless you are doing high enough speeds for sufficient airflow.

I think my IAT peaked at 68 degrees C yesterday after being stuck in slow moving traffic with the aircon on full blast, covered around 1 mile in 30 minutes. It soon drops again when on the move and absolutely plummets to sub-ambient when the meth kicks in

I think I'm right in saying the Stage 1 Airtec is better for a 2+ k03, whereas the Stage 2 Airtec and Peron are better for a 2+ k04 (or bigger) car.

As for charge temps over the last couple of days of 30deg+ ambient, it's really noticeable. Especially at Stage 2 with the oem cooler..! I've read conflicting reports about water meth, but it's definitely something I'm going to look into when I sort out cooling and a proper turbo.
