Very Hot
« on: July 24, 2016, 03:33:26 pm »
I had my thermostat change a couple of weeks ago, and every time I take the car out for a drive the fans come on when I turn the car off. The fans only stay on for about 40 sec, but the fans never used to do this.

There also seem allot of heat coming from the exhaust system, you can literally feel the heat hit you from underneath the car when filling up with petrol, I know engines run hot, but this seem a little extreme to me, I have done a scan with VAGCOM and there are no errors coming up, should I be worried.

Use the climate menus in here: http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=50280.0

Later cars have "A/C" instead of "Econ" buttons FYI.

Set it to 19.2 and monitor coolant temp  :happy2:

So I did the Econ test on the commute to work today, I setup the A/C for 19.2 and most of the time it was reading about 98, 99, but then went up to 103c on the motorway at  cruising speed, which I thought was on the high side of things, considering I was in 6 gear following traffic at 70-80?

That is too hot! Possibly something up with one of the thermostats?

I just had the thermostats changed. And there are no sensor faults coming up in VAGCOM.
