extra stubborn wheel deposits?
« on: January 19, 2010, 01:28:24 pm »
first chance to wash the car after xmas, holidays and the recent crazy snow....
its been a while so the cr*ps been on there for at least a month.

I double foamed before it even saw a wash mitt which was fine.

However my wheels in the corners just wouldnt clean up easily, sort of an accumulated grit pocket!
I can remove it with my fingernail eventually but not ideal (and Im pretty sure its scratching the lacquer in doing so!)
Bilberry diluted then up to neat but no effect after several soaks.

Acidic cleaner next  :surprised: ?

tbh Im amazed how much the weather has fkd up my car ! t
he front discs are awful  :surprised:  (even after a set of cleanup runs..)

what should i use?

x2

the finichis on the EOS are suffering this too, the Bilberry wont touch it, the AG clean wheels gets 80% of it off but still some remains

Plenty of soapy water to lubricate and a fairly aggressive clay bar and loads of elbow grease will shift it all..............BUT be patient!  :happy2:

It sounds like someone needs a winter top up!  :pomppomp:

Unfortunately, youve touched on an area of detailing that is challenging for professionals as well. Obviously, you could go crazy with acid  , that will get it off, but its far from safe. There are stories of brick acid being used on DW, with no negative effects (seamingly) but theres not a chance id use that on a customers car!

I would suggest something like Megs Wheel brightener, i have some of this in the unit, that i use from time to time on stubborn wheels. I would not suggest using this as a wheel cleaner you use every time you wash the car though, it is very strong, and should be used with caution!

Even after wheel brightner, i sometimes have to break the clay out!

its a tough job. good luck!

thats the key with it, keeping on top of them.

You'll find that the hot brake dust on top of hot brake dust....on top of brake dust results in a 4 hour wheels off session!
