Want to hire something nice for a UK holiday
« on: July 23, 2016, 11:55:21 pm »
OK, so we fancy hiring something nice for a UK holiday, maybe something along the lines of an F Pace, Disco, RR etc. 4x4 as we'll be taking in all sorts of terrain. I don't drive anything like this so I quite like the idea of driving something completely different for a week.
Does anybody have any recommendations as to where to hire from? I found an F Pace with Thrifty but they couldn't tell me what engine it would have. I don't want anything too puny, this is supposed to be a fun part of our holiday. We're in Hampshire, close to Chichester and Portsmouth.

Thanks.

Beware! Make sure you've got good excess insurance!
Just because you're renting a 4x4, they won't let you off! I rented a brand new Disco once and used it fairly heavily offroad - the spare wheel (up under the rear) being a solid block of mud was the give away; they shafted us.
I had a Quashkai (or however the feck you spell it...) in Scotland last month, not off road. Hertz excess was £2K!

On the other hand, I noted that depot had a Ftype convertible for £220/day - for the same excess. gets my vote next time!

Just priced an F-Type V6 coupe for four days (minimum term with the locations I used) and it came in at £793. They do an F-pace for the same price, hopefully that'll be the 6 cylinder and not the rattly 2.0D too (doesn't state).
They also do a 991 Carrera S for £1150 'ish.

Not the best deals, but by far not the worst either. I've had plenty a car from my local Avis so hopefully my guy there could sort something out  :happy2:
