Xenon retrofit - warning light
« on: July 29, 2016, 03:33:25 pm »
Hi all

I am brand new to this site and could do with some help!

Had some genuine xenon headlights retrofitted to my mk5, I am really happy with them but the bulb warning light is permanently on - all bulbs are working.

When I first fitted them there was a warning message on the dash and the main beam flickered, which meant I had to get it plugged in to VAG COM to correct.
Since then the warning light has been permanently on.

Car has no auto level sensors - could it be this?
Lights work fine but it's really annoying with the warning light always on.

Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks

From my experience I think it's most likely to be the high beam shutters. They need to be activated via vcds if you have run the yellow wire from the adapters to the cecm.

If you haven't connected that wire then you need to disable xenons with shutters via vcds.

Can you scan the car and get the error code?

The beam flickering is normal

Thank you for this - I will get the car scanned again and get the error code, then get back to you if that's okay?
