Finally going to post!
« on: July 28, 2016, 04:53:41 pm »
Hi all! Long time reader, first time poster...

After months and months and months of viewing the site I'm finally going to post something!! I bagged myself a 55 reg gti in tornado red a month ago and I love it! I had been carting around in a clapped out 1.2 fiesta for a while (it was the chariot to get me to work and if it fancied it - home again) so it's a massive step up from that.

Gotta say, this site is spot on for the 'how to' guides and other info. It's my first port of call for anything so I tip my hat to the guys that post that stuff  :congrats:

My list of jobs/plans for my car is ever growing. Some stuff I don't even know/think about but I see it on here and it gets my brain ticking.
At some point in my cars life it's had an R32 rear put on, some serious kerbing on every alloy, it's wing mirrors poorly painted matt black, the front lip poorly colour coded and the RCD 300 left untouched.

All I've got to do now is figure out which job to do first

Any way, cheers everyone!

Feels so good to finally pop my cherry!

Firstly welcome and congratulations on plucking up the courage to post something. The first post is the hardest! (Cat Stevens)

I am also a fellow Tornado Red owner so another congratulations from me!

Secondly, get some pics up. What spec is your car?

First things first, you need to sort the minor cosmetic issues out to get your car looking the part. Then the regular culprits: DV, PCV, cam follower etc. need to be upgraded to the latest revisions.

Other than that, what're your plans for it?

Previous motors (in order of succession since 1994):-

VW Golf MK2 GTi 8v
Peugeot 205 1.9 GTi
VW Corrado G60 Supercharged
Volvo C70 2.0 Turbo Convertible
Audi TT MK1 1.8T quattro (225)
Mercedes CLS 320 V6
Audi TT MK1 3.2 V6 Quattro
Audi A4 Convertible 1.8T Quattro
VW Golf MK5 GTi 2.0 Turbo

Cheers guys  :happy2:

I'm not sure how I go about adding photos but as soon as I work it out I'll put some up.

At the moment my plans are:

Upgrade to RNS 510 or Zenec
Sort out the front lip, skirts and mirrors
Refurb alloys/get hold of some ed30 alloys
Milltek exhaust (it's currently got an ulter exhaust on it and I'm not too keen on it)
Remap

It's already been lowered, hid lights  and has ram air doing the sucking so that's a bonus.
After that it'll be little bits and bobs to keep it looking the business but I'm sure I'll be adding a few extras along the way. Purchased a mk7 knob today so once that turns up I'll be (nervously) hacking away whilst following the fantastic guide on here.

As for the usual bits to upgrade - I'm hoping the previous owner has already done a lot of those, once I get time to delve into bits a bit more I'll have a look.

Cheers for the replies guys. As I said before I've been browsing the site for a while and it really is top notch.  :drinking:
