What Are The Best Easy To Do Mods For Your GTI
« on: August 04, 2016, 05:01:44 pm »
So having just read the thread about stainless steel tips on exhausts (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,107076.30.html)

and having done some stuff like fitting custom blinds around the back/side windows so it looks like the car is tinted (see below)...

I was wandering what other mods there are they are easy to do i.e you can do yourself with no mechanic experience?

Interior mods such as Chrome Switches from MK6 and the Cherry Red Hazard Lights are generally easy to do yourself and gives the inside a slightly more upmarket look for little money.

Vinyl for door/dash trim. Colours galore or if your flush get your own design printed
carpet cleaner.  No good having the looks if it stinks like a dead fox

You can get GTI badges for the seat adjusters:

Also, if you're after a minimal look, you can dewiper the rear and put a neat little black glass bung in place.

Black GTI badges. Red GTI badges. Stubby aerial. Wind deflectors (I'm personally not a fan). LED numberplate lights.

Engine bay you've got Porsche or r8 oil and coolant caps or black coolant and washer caps.

Interior chrome tip switches, seat adjuster inlays, foot rest cover, led interior lights, window sun shades, mk6 or votex gearstick.

Exterior you've got wind deflectors, led number plate lights, headlight lamp upgrade, change colour of badges, ed30/r32 rear lights, boot badge inserts, Wolfsburg number plate surround.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head, there's loads of things you can do.

Can you link me to your build thread, I can't find it.

As for colour coded bumper...do you mean on the rear...if so I much prefer not having it white :)
