My Golf Gti's ride height

Hey guys.
New owner here of a Mk5 Gti  I've always liked Golf's. Had a mk3 vr6 and a mk4 v6 4motion back in the day.

I can't help but feel that the ride is too high on my car. Ive seen other stock Gti's and they aren't as high as mine. Especially from the rear. The front looks ok to me.

Is this height normal for stock?  Also I had a close look at the springs in the rear and I found the following printed on them: Bilstein 36-134076. Are these standard factory springs? Or has the previous owner put some aftermarket ones on?

Last question if I may; I'm thinking of fitting Eibach pro's 30mm all round. Would these be sufficient to drop the car to a tasteful level. I don't want super low. I just want the arches to sit on the tyres with a little gap. I have Monza 18's fitted.

It does look quite high especially on the back. Sure it's not just parked at an odd level? Eibach or H&R springs would certainly drop to a good useable level.

That's what i thought initially that it may be the fact that its parked on a slant. But, i parked it on a completely flat surface and its still the same.

I can now see the pics! And yeah, back end is way too high. I can recommend the H&R 30mm springs...

there is always a debate over eibach vs H&R. i run H&R and in my opinion and many others, the car sits more level.

So looking at my cars ride height you think 30mm will be fine? I just want it slightly lower, I'm not into the slammed look.

AJP - that looks perfect. If my car  looks like that then I'll be happy. Anyone know of a garage in Birmingham who can lower my car supply and fit?

H&Rs are a great all rounder. Nice level drop, it is firmer than standard (spring always will be) but it does not make the ride unbearable. I had my car 2 1/2 years before I bit the bullet and bought some springs - wish I had done it sooner!

If you want eibach sportlines - go for it, they will achieve the look you want.

The ride is marginally firmer than standard springs. Hardly enough to notice most of the time. Probably the comfiest spring & shock setup I've used on any car. I'm looking to upgrade my shocks at some point, but you can run the H&Rs on standard shocks no problem.

I'm really happy with how it sits.

It's an easy job for any competent garage. Decide on a local place you know and trust, then order the springs online. AKS Tuning, Awesome GTI, DPM, etc.
