Cutting out at idle
« on: November 22, 2016, 08:16:02 am »
Request for help on 2 issues! First is that MY07 68K AMD mapped GTI cuts out/stalls occasionally when just sitting still on tick over.  Has anyone else had this issue, I'm guessing its a fuel mixture issue, but didn't know if that was common with re-maps (?)
2nd problem is paddle shifts, DSG box (brilliant in all other ways) manual change using the gear select 'stick' is faultless, but if I use the paddle shift it is really intermittent.  Again, has anyone had this issue?  The DSG box has been serviced by VW and all works perfectly other than the paddles.
Thanks in advance for any help or interest in my post.  :happy2:

More than like a vacuum leak causing the first issue. PCV is main culprit. Search.

Some more info on the second issue would help... what is intermittent?

Totally cuts out after sitting there idling for a while, or cuts out as the revs fall to idle?  There is a distinct difference when it comes to troubleshooting.

Thanks for the reply.  Re the paddle shift, what is intermittent is the change of gear when using the paddle shift.  Both (left or right) paddles are as bad as each other.  Sometimes on the button, first click, it might do that for 4-6 gear changes, then the next change takes 3-4 clicks of the paddle to change gear, then fine for another 3 changes, then 2 clicks required to change......and so it continues..!!
