The thing with scooby is they are expensive to run and start running big power through them and you knock the bottom end out of them as seen loads at work

Give me a 22b for my GTI any day...

 is all I can say I remember the one down the tracks in bullring back in the day was razzing out the scene along with a rs turbo series 2 I miss those days.
The rs turbo was great back in the day. I had an Astra gte but only the 8 valve. My mates dad had the 16 valve. Tosser. I also had an Orion 1.6i ghia. Good times.

If I did go down the scooby route I would probably get an import again as the engines are alot tougher and rev higher. They are mostly free of rust and the newer ones like the Hawkeye are 2l instead of 2.5l and are cheaper to tax.

Thanks @Craig Stanley

I'm in love with it and have owned this 1/24 scale for the last 14 years  :surprised: shi** I didn't even realise how time flies.  :surprised:
If you sell me this I can keep my golf aswell. Can get both in my garage and I can hide that one from the mrs.:)

Getting alot of power out of the golf will cause the same problems would it not?

Funny enough my mates dad flogged his Nissan 300zx for the Astra. It spent forwver in my neighbours farage having the rust sorted on it. From one rust bucket to the next.

Depends how far you go. The AXX/BWA (k03 car) is fine with a k04 conversion and all the bolt ons at about 350bhp, as long as the map isn't too aggressive and the torque isn't crazy high in a big spike.

The k04 engines have a stronger bottom end and can take 400bhp+ all day long.

A safe 300 would be good tbh. A linear map with accompanying mods and I think I'd be happy. Might just keep the Golf for now and see where it goes then.

Is yours a GTI or Edition 30?

The most you'll get from a GTI (k03) within safe limits of the turbo is 285-290bhp. That's with proven Stage 2+ hardware and a good map.

K03 hybrid is a good option that's on my radar. The Beach Buggy Turbos hybrids have seen 350bhp+ on standard injectors, mapped by R-Tech. Less to change than the k04 conversion and pretty much the same power potential. It'd still be a good idea to have all the 2+ bits in place, but it could be mapped however you want, so 300bhp, bags of torque would be well within reach. It's just a case of money!

Its just a gti unfortunately. I did wmail bbt and its £850 plus vat plus delivery for a hybrid k03. I like the fact its a straight bolt on. Like you say bit by bit and then Rtech for the map. Thing is I want it all NOW!!!

Haha, I know! I'm pretty much commited to going BBT hybrid or k04. It's only a bigger intercooler and intake I need before I'm at full 2+ hardware-wise and then I can look at turbos. And I've got an uprated clutch in.

To be fair it's plenty quick at Stage 2 (270bhp ish) but once you start tuning it's hard to stop!
