The thing with scooby is they are expensive to run and start running big power through them and you knock the bottom end out of them as seen loads at work
Getting alot of power out of the golf will cause the same problems would it not?

Depends how far you go. The AXX/BWA (k03 car) is fine with a k04 conversion and all the bolt ons at about 350bhp, as long as the map isn't too aggressive and the torque isn't crazy high in a big spike.

The k04 engines have a stronger bottom end and can take 400bhp+ all day long.
A safe 300 would be good tbh. A linear map with accompanying mods and I think I'd be happy. Might just keep the Golf for now and see where it goes then.
Is yours a GTI or Edition 30?

The most you'll get from a GTI (k03) within safe limits of the turbo is 285-290bhp. That's with proven Stage 2+ hardware and a good map.

K03 hybrid is a good option that's on my radar. The Beach Buggy Turbos hybrids have seen 350bhp+ on standard injectors, mapped by R-Tech. Less to change than the k04 conversion and pretty much the same power potential. It'd still be a good idea to have all the 2+ bits in place, but it could be mapped however you want, so 300bhp, bags of torque would be well within reach. It's just a case of money!
Its just a gti unfortunately. I did wmail bbt and its £850 plus vat plus delivery for a hybrid k03. I like the fact its a straight bolt on. Like you say bit by bit and then Rtech for the map. Thing is I want it all NOW!!!

Haha, I know! I'm pretty much commited to going BBT hybrid or k04. It's only a bigger intercooler and intake I need before I'm at full 2+ hardware-wise and then I can look at turbos. And I've got an uprated clutch in.

To be fair it's plenty quick at Stage 2 (270bhp ish) but once you start tuning it's hard to stop!
Tell me about it. I'm only Rtech stage 1 with all the usual upgrades and a healthy car and I am constantly checking what to do next. Addictive stuff. It doesn't help I've got an addictive personality:):)

Modifying cars is one of the better addictions to be in the clutches of!

I just hope that once I'm in the 300s I don't keep wanting more and more. I'll be honest, I have looked at full k04 engine swaps... but I stopped myself before the idea got hold of me!

I like the blob eye scooby like the one below but again not sure about these cars

Cough cough that's the 'bugeye'. They tweaked it because people didn't like it so much.

This was my 'blobeye'. 275bhp with a map, exhaust and filter. 30+mpg too which is amazing for a car with that kind of power. Fairly cheap to run as well I thought. Change the oil, run the car sensibly with a warm up and warm down and no problems.

I had an N reg Wrx import. The good thing is they run 280bhp standard no mods or maps.

No it would not as the bottom ends have forged pistons I believe or someone tell me I'm wrong.
The mk1 tt had forged pistons but the con rods weren't. As always the JP's are a lot stronger with more bhp  from factory de tuned for UK emissions?. The estate had 280bhp and we're rapid motors. :signLOL: ugly but nice.

Sportwagon you young whipper snapper! We needed 4x4 back in my day... it was all fields.... ;)

Re emissions, I deleted one of the three cats on the car, added 50bhp, got better mpg and still passed the MOT. This is what happens when you let people who know what they are doing manage the engines instead of politicians.

Give me a 22b for my GTI any day...

 is all I can say I remember the one down the tracks in bullring back in the day was razzing out the scene along with a rs turbo series 2 I miss those days.
The rs turbo was great back in the day. I had an Astra gte but only the 8 valve. My mates dad had the 16 valve. Tosser. I also had an Orion 1.6i ghia. Good times.

lol it was so easy to get away from the police back then.

I just fell in love with the digital dash they had and the recaro seats. They had lovely mattig body kits wide arch.

Then I bought a fiat uno turbo mk1 and fitted digital clocks into that awesome little motor. Only sold the clock last year to some lad in ebay after 14 years of sitting around in the house. :signLOL:

would love to own all the old classic motors again 205 1.9 gti uno turbo renault 5 gt turbo love those cars and proper quick too.

My Blob STI PPP - was Andy Forest mapped was around 360bhp.
Was all the power you'd need to be honest. I'd no problems in my ownership.
Totally different cars to GTIs - great handling, faster out the box - from a standstill especially.
Drawbacks - fuel economy, dearer insurance, poor quality interior,  the slightly chavvy image that comes with them.
I've always ended back in GTIs when I've tried other cars. The best of all worlds in my opinion.

Very nice  :happy2:

You're right about the drawbacks though. same with the evos imports are way more on the tax band and insurance fuel economy and parts lol. wife doesn't like the bulge on the bonnet high level spoiler and noisy exhaust. :sad1:

Looks and sounds so good though. Quite a draw even with the chavvy image. Lol
